Hi everyone... Im keen on obtaining some advice; its well and truly time for an upgrade of the Carnage Boxen of Doom. Seeing as I already have; - a perfectly good Radeon X800XL 256mb card, - a matched-pair of Geil 512 C2.5 DDR, - a Audigy2 Value soundcard, - a couple of ATA drives of larger capacity, but want to upgrade to SATAII... what comments could I garner if I decided to upgrade to an Core2 Duo based mobo , which lets me utilize said vidcard and memory? I would like to be able to use this machine to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. & CRYSIS when released; DX10 wont worry me, im not getting Vista, the DX9L bridging drivers will have to do. TIA!

Hey Carnage,
The only drama with the core duo stuff is you need DDR2 ram so the ram you have will have to go.
Also mate, the X800 is getting a bit long in the tooth. You can get the basic 8800GTS for about $450, which is DX10 compatible.
The E6600 core duo is a good unit ($450) and a MOBO would be about $150. Ram is about $300 for 2GB of ok stuff. Total upgrade $1350.
Gasman's PC died recently and he just went the upgrade and cost him about $1600 (new CPU, RAM, MOBO and Video)
